Dan Felder Interview

This evening content creator Rolyatack interviewed Game Design Manager Dan Felder and discussed the upcoming mode to the Path of Champions game mode which will be released during the next expansion of Legends of Runeterra.

At the start of the stream, Dan did a quick recap of what exactly the Monthly Adventures for the viewers who didn’t watch the last interview. He explained how the Monthly Challenges would be 70 procedurally generated missions, at least 50% being 3-star or higher. The mode also includes a champion use limit which means win or lose, once you have used a champion on a run 3 times they will no longer be able to be used until the Monthly Challenges resets. The mode would also be only available to players who are level 15 or above and aims to bring more content to people who have already completed the Path of Champions.

With the assistance of Rolyatack, Dan then displayed some of the design decisions of these Monthly Challenges showing screenshots of how the mode was looking as of yesterday.

Dan then explained that challenges would be given to the player in batches of 3. However, if the player completes the third challenge, it would automatically unlock the next batch of 3 challenges. This means players aren’t forced to play the “easier” levels if they don’t want to.

Mutators Before Champions!

Going into more screenshots Dan then explained that unlike Path of Champions, Monthly Challenges would give you the Mutator or Special Rules before you select your champion so that players can better optimize their runs due to the limited use of Champions.

New Shop

Towards the end of the interview, Dan also explained that the shop has been adjusted in this gamemode. Players have an increased chance to find synergistic cards for the champion they are using to allow them to stand a better chance at beating the more difficult bosses.

Dan also explained that instead of Powers, players will now buy items for cards in the Monthly Challenges.

New Roster

Finally, Dan ended the interview after granting Rolyatack’s wish. Asking her which of the 3 new champions she would like to see in the PoC gamemode. After replying Sett, Dan laughed and granted her wish! He then explained all 3 of the new Champions will be available to play from patch 4.3.0 which is scheduled to release on March 29th 2023.
