Over the weekend Legends of Runeterra players from around the globe participated in the Legends of Runeterra Heart of the Huntress World Qualifier Open.
With this being a World Qualifier Open that meant that the tournament would be larger than the usual Runeterra Opens with 3 notable differences:
Larger Prize Pool ($30,000 in total)
More Runeterra Points Available (Up to 18 Points for first place)
2023 World Championship Invitation Available (Only for the 3 Champions)
With these changes in mind, it meant that the competition would be strong as everyone would be wanting the grand prize!
For APAC the champion was Soraharu who managed to defeat THC Raphterra in the finals with a score of 2-0. The final move came in the form of a Spellshielded Varus who managed to Overwhelm Raphterra and claim the title of Champion!
For EMEA the champion was AtLeastIGotTheCS who managed to defeat BranchOfTurtwigs in the finals with a score of 2-0. The final move to secure victory was the destruction of Sump Monument into an open attack which left Turtwigs with not enough fast or burst speed answers to stop the lethal damage, and allowed AtLeastIGotTheCS to claim the victory and title of Champion!
Finally for AMERICAS, the champion was Da Tank Buster who some players may remember from the 2022 World Championships where he managed to make it to the top 16 of the tournament. He found himself against NNT Space in the finals of this World Qualifier Open where he managed to secure a reverse sweep victory with a score of 2-1. The final move to secure the victory was by casting Aatrox’s World Ender to assimilate a board full of Darkins to beat down Space’s nexus and claim the title of Champion.
These 3 players have now earnt $5,000 each, as well as an invitation to the Legends of Runeterra World Championships at the end of the year.
The next tournament for Legends of Runeterra is the Eternal Runeterra Open which will take place on the 2nd & 3rd of September and will be the second to last chance for players to earn Runeterra Points for the Heart of the Huntress season.
