Fate’s Voyage: Onwards Standard Runeterra Open

On Saturday 30th September, players around the globe took part in the Fate’s Voyage: Onwards Standard Runeterra Open in hopes of qualifying for the top cut which would take place the next day (Sunday 1st October).

Co-Streams:

With clean feed coverage coming from AegisEsportsLoR we were able to watch the top cut games for APAC & AMERICAS however due to some technical limitations there was no official coverage for EMEA however Bajatak & Marshall were able to commentate over games up until the Semi-Finals which allowed players to know who made it to the finals and with what decks.

Controversy:

As Bajatak & Marshall were streaming the EMEA coverage, they were made aware by a viewer that one of the players who was playing in the top cut had been playing the tournament on a second account which breaks the Legends of Runeterra Terms of Service.

The player who was playing on a second account has been known to play on a second account for Opens in the hope of qualifying multiple times and in the past has had Runeterra Points disqualified due to the violation however this doesn’t seem to have discouraged them in any way and after some research they have been found playing on 2 accounts in the last Eternal Runeterra Open as well which means Riot has either missed these attempts or the punishments aren’t strong enough to discourage cheaters from breaking terms of service to gain an advantage.

Until Riot makes a statement on this player, the points they earned in this tournament will be allocated as normal however once the points are made public we will see if they disqualify them from the tournament.

What’s Next?

The next event for Legends of Runeterra is the 4.10.0 balance patch notes which will bring both buffs and nerfs to cards which are available in the Standard format. The patch notes for this balance patch will be made public on Tuesday 10th October at 10 am PDT. This will give players 17 days to practice and prepare themselves for the World Qualifier Open on Saturday 28th October which will be the last World Qualifier Open before the World Championships in December!
