Fate’s Voyage: Onwards Eternal Runeterra Open

Over the weekend players around the world took place in the Fate’s Voyage: Onward Eternal Runeterra Open, in hopes of winning $1000 and up to 12 Runeterra Points.

However, with this being the last Runeterra Open that offers Runeterra Points before the World Championships in December, many players will be seeing if have earned enough points throughout the season or year to qualify for Worlds this weekend and the games were intense.

For EMEA it came down to Broken Ball vs Kuriva with the winner of the final earning 12 Runeterra Points and putting them in the top 3 for the Fate’s Voyage: Onward season meaning they would qualify for Worlds if they also secured a top 25 place on ladder when the cutoff happens in a weeks time. After a nailbiter of a final round which went to game 3, Kuvira took the win and claimed the $1000 and 12 Runeterra Points.

For AMER, a similar situation occurred in the 8 rounds with NNT Elder Senior, XdsZmX and 4LW all needing the win to secure that Worlds Qualification however both NNT Elder Senior and XdsZmX lost their Top 8 matches putting them out of contention for a Worlds invite however 4LW did manage to make it through to the Semi-Finals which meant that if he won his Semi-Finals game, he would have the required amount of points for the Fate’s Voyage: Onward season to earn that Worlds invite. In his Semi-Finals match he would face VapoZeiroBR another Brazilian player who he would beat in another nailbiting finish which saw him take a 2-1 victory and make it to the Grand Finals where he would lose to Aikado however he did not need to win that match to qualify for Worlds so he comfortably accepted the loss in the Grand-Finals but left happy knowing he would get his invite to the 2023 World Championships later this year.
