Riot Games Official Comment on LoR Cosmetics

What is the plan for cosmetics moving forward? New Boards and Guardians haven't been seen since 31st August 2022 which is close to 11 months since the last non-skin cosmetic.

For cosmetics, as with virtually all monetization strategies, the question is return on investment. To be quite transparent, the effort and resources it takes to make Guardians far exceeded their return. We're evaluating options to try and bring that differential down, but it's not easy and so (with a few rare exceptions), new guardians are unlikely to appear in the future until we can find a way to correct that.

For boards, the story is a little different - they can be successful, but sometimes they are not. This "hit or miss" performance, coupled with the lack of efficiencies that board production has compared to champ skin production, caused us to temporarily pause board production. We're currently investigating new strategies around resuming board production, but it will take time and those investigations may end up not being successful. But we want them back as much as players do!
